Hi everybody! I just wanted to post a quick reminder that the Zilker Clothing Swap is happening in just two days. Here are the details: Saturday, 9/7, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, in the Zilker Elementary cafeteria. For a map, click here.
It’s held at Zilker Elementary, but you don’t have to be associated with the school in any way to attend. I’m not, and I’m going.
Here’s how it works: You clean out your closets and pack up any women’s, men’s, and children’s clothes you no longer need, as well as any still-good shoes, backpacks, and books you can find. Then head on down to the swap, hand it all over, and then take what you need. Pretty simple.
I should warn you that these sorts of things can be a little chaotic. Not people-wrestling-over-the-last-Cabbage-Patch-Kid chaotic, just a lot of stuff everywhere. When I got there last year, there were a bunch of bags on the floor near the entryway waiting for donations. I spent the first several minutes trying to figure out what went where. When I got into the cafeteria, there were tables with giant mounds of clothes on them, arranged by type (e.g., girls pants, boys shirts, women’s jeans).
Just get your mind in the right place, settle in for a bit of digging around, and you will leave a happy person, promise.
See you there!
