Website Makeover

Ta da! I’ve been working on my site, as you can see. What do you think?

I got the idea to makeover my blog so that it looks more like a website nearly a year and a half ago, I guess. At first I was being all perfectionistic and picky about the details (shocker). I wanted to create the whole thing from scratch. Not knowing a thing about web design or hosting your own site, I checked out a bunch of books from the library, spent a lot of time searching the Internet, and just generally drove myself nuts.

For my logo, I used one of the Hanafuda collages I finished in 2010.

Luckily, I finally came to my senses and realized that my talents do not lie in the technology field. So I saved my dollars and bought this really cool theme called Watson, paid WordPress to remove all the ads, and bought my own domain name. And voila! Now (thanks also to the super skills of my photographer friend Cathy Faber) I have pretty much everything I originally wanted in a site, and the whole process was much more low maintenance and hand-holdy than my original plan.

I decided to move away from the Beneath the Trees name, not because I don’t love it, but because I wanted to free it up for potential future uses. Beneath the Trees is gone but not forgotten!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, let my plan for world domination begin! Wah ha ha . . .
