After experiencing only a few days of fall weather, we’ve jumped ahead into winter! Austin weather is crazy like that. We Austinites like to say, if you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes. Turns out Mark Twain said this first—except about New England. I guess we aren’t the only ones with nutso weather. (I should remember those poor souls every time I complain about the cold here.)
I know we’re all about to get Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” stuck in our heads for the next 30 days, but if you get sick of all that, or if you discover that the best way to raise your core temperature is by dancing around your living room (it is), give this playlist a whirl.
It’s got a couple of fun Austin bands on it: Max Frost, who seems to have everybody talking (’round these here parts anyway), and Black Joe Lewis, who seriously makes me want to dance every time I hear him. And now he’s telling us to come to his party! Rearrange the living room furniture and light up the good stuff!
There are three covers here as well; Jack White’s version of “Love Is Blindness” stopped me in my tracks. That is one talented dude, I tell ya. I threw a little Willie in for good measure, too. Anytime Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg collaborate, shouldn’t we all sit up and take notice?
