Hello everyone! I don’t have a ton to say today; I just wanted to write a quick post so you know I’m not a) dead, b) trapped under a large dresser, or c) swearing off blogging. No, I’m still here; I’m just not feeling very creative lately.
December is not historically a creative month for me, which is weird because I know many people get so inspired by all the decorating, baking, and gift giving. I love that stuff too (well, the latter two), but all the high-speed doing just isn’t conducive to low-speed creating. Maybe that’s OK, though. Everything needs its cycles of waxing and waning.
This particular December is made a bit different, too, due to all the extroversion required by my new job and meeting 65 or so new coworkers. So! Not so much blogging. Or much of anything else, really.
In the meantime, you might like to read this honest, nice post from Joy Cho from the blog Oh Joy! She is the cutest thing, and very inspiring. Plus she got to be on Emily Henderson’s HGTV show, where Emily wallpapered her living room in a wallpaper Joy herself designed, which basically means she’s my hero.
She writes about the struggle so many parents feel trying to balance work and home responsibilities. Since my kids have gotten a bit older and started school, this whole parenting thing has definitely gotten a lot less exhausting. But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. It’s nice to hear such an honest assessment of the situation from someone who seemingly has it all. When I read it, I was once again reminded that I’m not the only one who has these struggles. We are all in this together, aren’t we? Kind of nice. :)
